To provide environmental education opportunities and activities that foster the development of positive life skills and give memorable experiences of the NZ bush.

We are surrounded by bush in the Kaimai Forest park on DOC land which we lease. We give priority to school and youth groups that fit with our mission and vision. Vacant time slots may be booked by other groups for workshops, team building, weddings, family get-togethers etc. We have bunk room accommodation for up to 92 people.

Kitchen and Lodge upgrades
New cupboards and shelves, a dish sanitiser, new fridge unit, LED lighting in kitchen and dining room, an exterior shade-sail area and LED lighting are some of the recent improvements. We have improved the drainage around the building and installed a back up water supply using roof water in case the river supply fails, as it does sometimes after heavy storms.
We have also installed a new security gate at the entrance that requires a code to enter. Clients can access this by getting a number from the Manager. The number changes regularly.

Lodge By Pass Track

The work has been completed on a by-pass track from the public car park to the short loop track which means that the public will no longer be required to walk up the road and past the lodge, increasing privacy and improving Health and Safety for our clients. The track makes the walk to the N/S track and Loop tracks and swimming hole on the Aongatete river a better experience. Further work will still take place on this track and new DoC signs will be installed shortly. Thanks to DoC and especially to Warren Gerraghty whose skills are much appreciated.
