MISSION

To provide environmental education opportunities and activities that foster the development of positive life skills and give memorable experiences of the NZ bush.

We are surrounded by bush in the Kaimai Forest park on DOC land which we lease. We give priority to school and youth groups that fit with our mission and vision. Vacant time slots may be booked by other groups for workshops, team building, weddings, family get-togethers etc. We have bunk room accommodation for up to 92 people.

AOEC & LODGE NEWS

UPDATE 19 March 2018---Lodge By Pass Track

Most of the work has been completed on a by-pass track from the public car park to the short loop track which means that the public will no longer be required to walk up the road and past the lodge, increasing privacy and improving Health and Safety for our clients. The track makes the walk to the N/S track and water hole and the short loop track a better experience. Another DoC volunteer day will be held on 28 March to do further work on the track. Thanks to DoC and especially to Warren Gerraghty whose skills are much appreciated.

UPDATE 19 March ---Nature Trail- phase 2

AOEC and Aongatete Forest Project are very happy to announce that the first modules of the environmental educational resource kit for use by teachers and pupils attending the lodge is now in place and is available. See the Teacher Notes here. Thanks to Kate Graeme and Ann Graeme and House of Science for all the time and expertise put in. They are also working on two more modules.
